I have a series 1 rb25det motor and I don't think the VVT is working on it.. Is there any way to test it to see if it is working or not?

I didn't know that VVT could get broken!! Its a program made in your ECU, I don't think it breaks or can be tested for being faulty. Maybe your getting knock or your timing is outta wack or both???????

Because I don't hear it "clicking" at idle/rev up the motor?

its not vtec. there is no audible clickling.

all VTC does is adjust cam timing, NOTHING like vtec where you would hear an audible changeover. but even vtec does not work at idle.

ive unplugged my VTC and never noticed a difference on track. so i dobut yours is broken.

Thats wierd.. Because when my friends VVT wasn't working and then it was working.. It was a noticable difference.. I understand it isn't like VtAK.

well as far as i know there is no audible click when it works, because all it does is rotate the cam to change the timing. so i wouldnt base the fact if its working or not on weather you can hear something at idle.

Can't hear it when accelerating/reving either. Two of my other friends have RB25's as well.. And you can hear the "clicking"..

But, we are getting off-topic here. This thread isn't if VVT makes a differance or not.. The question was.. Is there a way to test the VVT to make sure it is working correctly?

R33's and up had VTC, hence the hump on the intake side of the front timing cover which the RB20's and R32 RB25DE's lack: it's the solenoid.
