I've had my car for what now, 2 months, I'm pretty much car illiterate and well who cares right? I'll learn along the way.

Anyways, I've noticed that, while driving on flat land or on the downhill that my car ('91 240 fastback) that it seems to kick extra power at 5500 rpms in the 1st and 2nd gear.

I don't understand what's going on especially since nissans don't have vtec or anything like that. What could be casuing this?:help

A good, stiff tailwind!

Ummm, but seriously... a thread with the EXACT same topic was started last week. Scroll down a bit and you might find it. Usually the KA power band is between 3500 and 5500. It drops off real quick after that. But, if you read that thread, a few other guys seem to experience what you are talking about.

ya i agree with maine. The powerband is sweet from about 3300 to 5000 rpms. Who needs Vtec in a nissan.

I don't extacly lose power though. It seems that more power kicks in after 5500 rpm instead of losing power. I odn't understand why that happens.

My car is acting weird like that also. I usually get a lot of power kicking in at 5k rpms. Sometimes it runs strong and i feel that power all the time, but half the time it does that. I'm still looking for the gremlin.

Someone said to consider looking for vacuum leaks. I've done a lot of maintenance things, i need to do sparkplug wires and distributor next. I wrote a thread about it a while ago, but didn't get anything that worked.
