ive got a full front s14 clip installed in my 95 black s14. Now ive gota decent sized turbo but i was wondering what all the variable valve timing thing does. Ive heard it can make problems along the way but i dont know anything about it. If somebody could throw me to a nice guide about it or toss me some info that would help( turbo is .83 on the hot side and .5 on the cold)

Thats how it works. When you reach a certain horsepower mark(I believe is 400) the VVT starts working against the motor killing the power.

Where in the hell does all of this misinformation about VTC come from? The VTC helps with low-end torque. It disengages somewhere around 3000RPM IIRC. Above its disengage point, it does nothing, so it can not hurt your top end except for the VERY slight increase in rotating mass in your valve train which is not even noticeable.

I've always heard that it limits the power, hence why people put S13 sr's into S14's. Perhaps cost is the main issue though..

the high port head makes the s13 sr20 a bit more rev happy and the low port head with long runners, again, helps the s14 with its low end.

in the past, you did not have much option with cams if you had the s14 unless you ditched the VTC unit and got a cam pulley instead. But now, pretty much everyone makes cams of any duration that you would want that will work with VTC. So it is no longer an issue.
