What would happen if my speed sensor wasn't hooked up to my ecu?

your speed limiter or speedometer? either way which ever one you are prefering to it wouldnt work..either your speedometer would not work or your top speed limiter would be removed

Ok, so the only thing the ECU uses the speed sense for is the speed limiter? I can pick up the speed sense signal for the gauge cluster directly from the transmission.

I believe so..the reason i think this is because if you look at the ecu pinout http://web.archive.org/web/200...h.htm you will see #32 is the speed sensor input and that is the only thing on that diagram that says anything about speed. and i know the speed limiter is controlled by the ecu so that must be the speed limiter and you must get the speedo reading straight from the transmission

Thanks for the link. It's very informative.

What's the factory speed limiter set at anyways? I'm running a ****ty bag setup so I can't find out till I fix it.

Yes if you clip the speed sensor from the ECU it will remove the limiter. Since the speed signal splits when it hits the interior harness.

Factory speed limit is 115-125 mph. Its beyond what a S13 cluster will read.
