93 SE-V6 Hardbody. Anybody know of a way to repair the VSS in the manual speedo heads? None of the salvage yards around here have any clusters to rob a new one from. I re-soldered the connections in the sensor and cleaned everything up but I am still not getting any output from the VSS. This is causing the trans to stay in limp mode.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you pulled the sensor? I had one where the teeth on the plastic gear on the end were stripped. At the time, which was at least a decade ago, it was a $22 part from the dealer.

If you pull it, you can do a rudimentary test by hooking up a drill to the sensor to spin it and check for AC voltage on the output. Don't know what the range is supposed to be for whatever RPM input, but if it gives you nothing, could be a good sign the sensor is bad.
