Hey guys, I am looking at a brake upgrade on the s13 and I have a couple of different ideas. I thought about doing the 300zx upgrade. But then I came across this on ebay.http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...=WDVWI was wondering if anyone was using this bracket and if it worked or not, or if anyone had ever heard anything at all about it. Supposedly, they outbraked a porsche with them.... .... and if that is true, that would be sick. Thanks for the input.Josh

I couldn't find where I read it, but someone wrote a review regarding z32 brakes to 3kGT rotors. He stated that he has never experienced fade using the z32 rotors (brembo slot+drilled 30mm) and could lock up the tires at will on the 240SX. The car is much lighter then a z32 and doesn't require too much braking. When he moved to the 3kGT mod (brembo slot+drilled), he didn't notice any fade resistance versus the z32 as it is(tested on Laguna race track). The only difference stated was the *sticky* brake feel due to the larger rotor giving more initial stopping torque and the *bling* factor of course. The car was using a z32 BMC. If stopping performance is what you want, 26mm z32 calipers and rotors will do just as good due to z32 brakes being overkill for the car on the street. Heavy track usage should use the 30mm ones. 26 and 30mm z32 brakes have been tested to stop the same during tests. The only difference between the two is that the 30mm will resist fading more over continuous heavy braking.

The information was found on google a couple years ago when I was looking for information on brake options for the 240sx. With all said, the z brakes on a 240sx will outbrake a porche to begin with due to it's weight advantage provided both cars use the same compound tires. I have 26mm z brakes with brembo slot+drilled on my S14 and never had them fade on me yet(lots of twisty back roads). I also have the z BMC.

The stock 240sx brakes on the other hand, I have faded them numerous times easily on the FIRST try going from 100-0mph(strain my leg on the pedal when fade kicks in). Everytime after that, it will fade faster and faster. It was my wake up call for more stopping power .

I believe they have been discontinued because of low sales. I got mine a couple of years ago on ebay for 120 shipped. The 26mm z32 brakes were only made for one year, which is probably why the low sales. It is almost impossible to find a pair now unless someone has it in their stock collecting dust.

it'd probally be more cost efficent to take your brakes to auto zone and exchange them for rebuilt z32 ones

yeah finding the 26mm cross drilled or slotted rotors today is like pulling teeth. its easier to go with the 30mm.
