Hey ya'll have a question. Does the VQ35Hr have any timing marks or reference points on the back timing cover? Or is it all just a chain reference points AKA colored links? If you jump time on the primary, do you have to start all over with the secondaries?

I believe it's just the chain reference points.

Use a locking chain clamp or something between the chain and the intake variable timing adjuster (something non-marring) and turn cam GENTLY backwards to the correct position. Then reinstall the main chain. Make sure the marks on the chain line up to the marks on the intake cam gears and crank.

Thank Hitman. IAlso the vvt screens/filters on the front timing cover. It doesn't show or even mention them in the service manual at all. Is there source's to get them? Dealership said " I have to buy the whole timing cover" to get new ones.

Wow. That's a new one for me. I'd say cleaning them would be sufficient when the cover is off (I always do a thorough scrubbing / refinishing on any removed / replaced parts).

Well, the thing they got a thorough scrubbing / refinishing by my friend & lost one of them. I've been searching on the net & can even find anyone posting , chatting or find images of them.. Ive been debating on fabricating one. I would rather buy one then make one. Not willing to by a timing cover though.
