The new VQ35HR engine will be used in the 2007 G35 Sedan and the 2007 350Z.

The G35 Coupe will keep the VQ35DE for the time being, likely being the first recipient of the new 3.7 liter derivation in 2008.

Stay tuned for VQ35HR.com, brought to you by NICO!

Thought they were 3.7L, or is that an Infiniti exclusive?

The letters "HR" in VQ35HR and VQ25HR stand for "high revolution" and "high response."

So where's the VK56HR for the new Q?

I'm glad they finally have a respectable redline, I can't wait to drive one.

Now they just need to carry over the supposed VAST interior improvements from the '07 G35's to the Z33, and they'll have a killer on their hands.

"HR" stands for Hi-Rev

only difference is the cam or head profile to raise RPM limit by 500-1k which results in the 310hp rating

Not exactly. The HR motor does rev higher, but there are significant changes in the VQ35HR. The Block itself is a new casting with much more rigidity. It uses a bedplate design. The crank uses larger journals. A taller deck height accomodates longer connecting rods that appears to be forged. The pistons are assymetrical using a wider skirt on the thrust side. The Variable cam timing systems are similar, but probably phase differently and use different profiles. The new heads use quenchpads rather than an open design, which probably account for at least some of the increase in compression. The compression is now at 10.6:1. There are changes to the exhaust system, they use iridium fine wire plugs and many changes to the intake as well, notably dual throttle bodies with dual MAF sensors, but the above is a brief summary of changes to the motor itself. The new VQ will be rated as a SULEV for emissions.
