OK so, when I bought my 09 M35 to replace the black beast which was totaled last month, I was still getting over a concussion, bruised ribs, and a torn rotator cuff so I wasn't paying all that much attention to the engine. I just a**umed that it had the same engine as my 07 M35 since it was the same model. Fetucini was doing the close-up inspection to make sure I didn't miss anything but she did not notice the engine difference either.

Seems my 09 has a VQ35HR engine. I don't see much difference aside from the fact that now I will need to buy two air filters, two MAF sensors, etc. My question is: Are there any other details I should be aware of regarding care and maintenance that are not mentioned in the manual? Any history of oil loss between changes, gear box troubles, etc?:

Sorry for this post mods http://g35driver.com/forums/engine-driv ... rison.html Someone who actually pulled the two motors apart shares his experiences regarding the differences. Very interesting. I was going to say not much was different other than the top end but that just shows how much I really know lol.

There's actually quite a difference between the DE and HR engines. Most notably the 30+ more HP. They make more torque too. The compression ratio is higher so it's also more sensitive to premium fuel.
