does any one know if it will work? i have searched around and found that the vg30dett transmission can be used with the rb25det bellhousing.. but will the vq35de transmission bolt up to the rb25det block? or can it be made to work?

i have an rb25det block with no transmission and im looking for something that will work.. all those people doing rb26 swaps are buying the rb25det trannies out!!

It would be better just to wait and find an RB25 transmission. You are going to spend a lot more time and money sourcing and modifying the 6 speed to fit.

I highly doubt nissan would make the 350z's transmission to match up with anything on a transmission they made 10-15 years ago.

I've heard the 6 speed vq35 transmission has proven to be pretty weak, but they might have fixed that problem in the later models.. It would be worth looking in to if you have access to one for cheap, and can fab a custom bellhousing adapter plate($$$$$$), sort of like the one's Mazworx makes for KA to VG, and SR to VG.

Seems like it would be better do make the VG transmission work... I've seen some pretty good deals on these transmissions, compared to the $1000 the rb25 transmission's are sellin for.. I dont know if they were luck, or just hella cheaper than the RB's.

there are a couple of vq35de trannies on ebay for 1 dollar no reserve (150 shipping) with 2 days left.. search "350z transmission"

they are the older model transmissions from the 350z. nissan dealer told me people have been have ing problems with 3rd and 4th gears (grinding and loud noises when in those gears)

a guy at http://adrenalinexxx.com/ told me that vq35de trannies will bolt up to rb25det's and all you need is to find a clutch to work with that engine and transmission. but i think he is full of S**T because he also told me he has done it before... i asked him for more info and he told me to just try it out for myself to see how it was.

i guess im just going to go with the vg30dett transmission route and use a rb25det bell housing if i can get my hands on one!!!!!

gawdzilla i emailed you about it!!!

If you really think you are going to get those trannies for a dollar, buy them all.

seems like you could get your rb flywheel drilled to accept a 350z clutch. not such a wild idea. i was thinkin of doing something along those lines for my rb20, but with a 6speed from a camaro ss (its just sitting in my garage, for like a year now, roomate left it when he moved out.) of course id need an adaptor plate, but it seems that if the bellhousings mate up, get teh flywheel drilled to fit it. or call jwt, they might know. they do a lot of work with the z(z's in general)

whats there to drill, guys on ka-t.org have been using rb20/25 flywheels with z33 clutches on them 260mm vs 250, not a shabby increase.

Can you use the synchro's from anyother Nissan trans to replace the ones in that busted 25's? Like VG or SR?

I-6 and V-6 engines don't usually have the same bellhousing pattern.

really? thats pretty cool. i never looked at the z33 fw directly, but i knew that the clutch was larger than the rb20/sr clutch. that is pretty cool that it is the same bolt pattern. hmmmm. im curious now.
