I'm sure this has been gone over a ton of times already on this site but I am busy and at work and need a fast answer if I am gonna jump on this.

Can we interchange any parts from the VQ35DE on our engines? I read a few articles that claimed we have the VQ35DE but I remember hearing that is not accurate. I have a guy with a ported and polished cylinder head who wants to sell it real cheap (i think its from a 2004 Z, not sure though).

I am confused then, if most parts are interchangeable why don't people use headers that were designed for the 2003-2006 Z if that is indeed the same engine.

It's the same engine only slightly different BUT we have a FWD and the Z and G are RWD. so our engines are turned sideways. which is why we can't use their headers, intakes, superchargers, turbos, etc. because the piping wouldnt fit since our engine is sideways. the internals would probably be the same but I'm no expert in that area so idk

Yes the port and polished cylinder head will bolt on. Make sure you get new gaskets. With that section of the motor, I would think the only thing different would be the intake and exhaust cams as the Z's have a slightly different lift and duration. Now go buy that thing and install it. Oh and one more thing...Do a benchmark test, a 0-60 or quarter mile and note the time. then do the same after the mod and report back. We'll all be here waiting to hear the results!

The heads should fit, there's only one way to find out...
Also, I haven't poked around the engine bay of a 3.5 much, how much space is there between the block and firewall? Would you have to pull the whole engine out to get at the rear head? If so, I don't think it's worth it on a car this new.

That's right..Since it's a transverse motor, getting to the front is easy..it's the back that will be the pain. Remember, you'll need to use a torque wrench to tighten it up once you install them. You don't want to blow your head after you get it on! Wait.. :iconeek That came out wrong! :lolling:
