What kind of spoiler is that? Any pictures directly from the side profile of the car?

fo the brakes, its all custom. no kit for it that i know of, and i can do what i really have in mind with a custom job.

I dont have a pic directly of the side. but thats a good point. ill try to get one up within the weekend.

and yes, the spoiler is an evo wing. if you go back and read the first page (which has some more pics btw, but the color is off on em) you can see all the people going "OMG he put an evo wing on his car, gross"

are the foam pads noodles? sure looks like it

with a fully built VQ you should be making around 390 and +1 for the vortech super charger. from what i have read it is the most efficient charger for the VQ... you do know that STS has come out with the rear mount for the 350 so you could custom make the kit to fit the 240 as you are doing all the work your self

thanx fur the props. buuut.....its not a sileighty. the sileighty was a hatch with a silvia front end. this is a silvia, or a 240sx with its front end anywayz.

Well theres your problem right there. Overfenders with +30 offset wheels does not equal flush. Either get new wheels with lower offsets or massive spacers.

yeah... i have basically the same wheels... I beleive yours are 17"s, as are mine. These things are boat anchors, and i could feel the power loss the first time i drove the car with them on. Not anly a drop in acceleration, but braking as well. unsprung weight is a bit**.

also, many tracks will not let you run with spacers, period.

Avoid a lot of headaches in the future and either find a 4-lug wheel with better offset, or go 5-lug and have many more options not only for wheels but for brakes as well. To be honest, I dont know of any 4-lug wheels that match the quality of the other parts you have put in/on the car.

PS- i like the mismatched sideview mirrors. cute.

AAAANNNDD... you'd probably be better off w/o the overfenders until you get the wheel situation figured out.

ok im done pointing out little things. well mayb*slaps self*.... never mind.

got chub:im not sure for the noodles but it think ur right. I bought em off a site that makes roll cage padding, this was one of the cheapest since it doesnt need to be SFI certed for drifting until you get to D1 or formula D. but yea, i took one look at em and they look like noodles cut in the middle, i think im just gonno go to a store and buy noodles cuz they'll be cheaper then on the site.as for the VQ, a fully build Vq makes a lot more then 390hp, with a full build i expect to see figures around 500hp minimum, im not going for a cheap build. its gonno take me time to save up.

tsukiko:so you actually had the wheels and didnt like em, damn, now that i have some actual negative feedback on em im starting to think i need to change em. hmm.....i donno where imma find better offset wheels tho, I've thought of enkei 0 offset mesh wheels....my friend just got some and they look good. I think ill take a spin on the sportmax once and see, but im gonno seriously start looking for better ones now.

i donno where u heard of the "no spacers on tracks" thing but the three tracks I've drifted on have never cared, (irwindale, willow springs and thunderbowl) but im not saying your wrong, im sure there will be some that dont allow it, so i might as well resolve the problem now.

oh aaand YOU WIN, your the first to notice i havnt put on the second carbon mirror, not even my mechanic noticed after like 4 months of work on it.

thanx

cj

EDIT: to whomever said rear mounted turbo. it was an option i had not considered, and yes, doing the lines would not be too hard.....but im not sure where they would go since i already have a lot of exhaust lines under there......so maybe, i will look into it before just saying no but I think imma stick with the vortech T-trim supercharger.

UPDATE ON THE WHEELZ

ooookay, so i just spent 20mins or so talking to one of the techs at san dimas auto and here is the deal. they are running in formula D (its a yellow 240sx w/pop up lights, im modelling mine after theirs) and hey have the sportmax rims i have. they simply lenghtened the studs and run 30mm spacers in the front, and 50mm spacers in the rear.simple as that, so i guess forget getting new rims, lets focus on the spacers, there are no restrictions on them in formula D or D1 and unless i find the rims too heavy (which could still happen) im sticking with these.

btw i think he screwed up on the spacer size he said....doesnt 50mm seem waaay too big a spacer, or do those actually exist?

I know this is going to make many people angry and sceptical but no offense to anyone but when i hear from a pro whom is actually running a setup in a pro series....imma go with what he says (even if he messed up on the spacer size)I think ill actually get them strait from san dimas auto if i can.

CJ

ps: this is their car right here

Yes they do exist! Matej has 38mm front and 50mm rear spacers on Sportmax 962 in 18x9.5 +30 all around.

wow, well thats kinda nuts.....i guess thats what imma have to do. if i like it when i drift, i keep em.....if not ill just go 5 lug (which i should have done in the beginning ) and get some sick - offset

oh and btw, i need to ask a couple of questions to anyone who knows the answer, or ill call they guy back monday, but id rather order em right now if i can.

I need longer studs if i put on spacers (duh) so if i have 50mm in the rear and 30mm in the front.....how big do my studs need to be.

I found some nismo 60mm studs, im thinking that might be what i need for the rear, but im not sure, and too little would mean a wheel poping off, too big would...just suck.for the front....if i take the same reasoning, i need some 40mm studs.

imma do research but if anyone has the answer, that would save me time and effort and id appreciate that.

goddamn! i wanna go vq! so VQswap.com gave you a hard time? that was the route i was gonna go but now im not so sure. one of the guys from there is usually on engine swap forums. he seemed cool.

they are all really good guys. they were decent and helpful....their product wasnt perfect, it required a lot more mods then they mentioned at first.(and they still dont believe they messed up on the one header.... but since im taking it them for a tune, ill show em what hapened)

if you have the money, i still think VQ swap will be the best way to go. doing a custom job would be really hard and time consuming, so yes, i wasnt happy at first, but in the end, their product, with some mods, worked....and thats what matters to me.

thanx

this is indeed a drift build.

I think i have an idea for you, but its not going to be too cheap cuz san dimas auto charges a good amount.take your 240sx there, buy the swap from them, buy the engine and trany etc from them, and then pay THEM to install it. i know they do it, and in that case if their swap is not perfect, they will fix it right there on the spot.

but do you really have the like.....8-10K to put into the swap. cuz it really aint cheap, my mechanic told me that an LS1 swap would actually have been easier.....I donno if thats an option you considered or care for, just an idea.

hmm............idk. cali is hella far for me. i actually know a guy near me who can help me. he did the swap without the vqsqap kit. did wiring himself so he should be helpful. ill prob wait till september ish to start that. i plan on doing what you did and just buy another s chassis and swap it in there. i may consider a vk swap though.

new pics and update.

we have the fuel system in the car, all ready. the pics arnt updated enough to see it yet but its all installed, fuel, pump, reg, lines and all.I placed a small amount of fuel in the tank and tried to start the engine and its cranking, but not starting which could be due to about 30 different things, nothing bad tho....just a little more work. it could be anything from the FPR is not open yet (badly adjusted) to the +wire on the fuel pump is not giving juice....or anything in between.Ill try to get a video up of how the engine sounds btw cuz it ought to be pretty mean sounding. (I hope i can post vids.....)

here are a couple of the exhaust:

this is the mufflers, dual cherry bombs, not very expensive but i was told the sound on em is good, and i just noticed you can see the bottom of my pink 240sx and the apexi muffler from under the big a** truck :P

this is the next part of the line, going out from the mufflers

and the 2 lines going to the headers, a true dual exhaust, and the open header ports off on the sides (not that we ended up putting cats on it)

nice swap, i have a VQ sitting in my basement right now and planning to swap it into my s14 when i have the time and money. im happy to see that this swap is getting popular and see that people post on how they tackle their projects.question with vqswap.com, i was also skeptical on buying their products but since seeing you use it, it makes me more interested on their kit. what were the exact parts you bought from them? was it the whole kit or just a few parts?

i'm am planning to do the swap on my vert eventually (first need to get rid of sr). the vqswap.com stuff seems to be good. the motors there are a little pricey. i actually talked to someone from there about mounting up one from the altima/maxima, and they said if i sent it to them they would use it as a jig for the crossmember and hook me up with a crossmember for letting them use it. it just seems that that would be easier since i'm probably gonna go ahead and fully build the vq anyways. good luck with rest of build

Kouki 2.4

I bought their whole kit, and that means every single piece they had for sale at the time (i think they now have a Y pipe for sale with the kit)It wasnt a bad kit, as i said, a portion of it didnt fit, I had to redo pieces of it. look up on my earlier posts, there is one dedicated to that.the guys there are awsome tho, very helpful.

JRPS13, Tsukiko

I dont really know, I found em at a pep boys, on sale. I had already heard one on my friends datsun 510 and I didnt really care, i just bought the cheapest thing i could find cuz its a race car and if it performs well, i dont care about the rest too much.

Redtopsdrop

good luck on the build, i'd love to see everything you get done on it so start a thread if you have the time (and a camera)

UPDATE

I have almost everything done for the motor to run. my mechanic found out I had put the wrong fuel pump on. it was a summit racing fuel pump, a good one at that, but I took the one for carb'd engines instead of EFI engines.....so needless to say, it didnt run. problem is getting corrected, I ordered the pump last night, so it should be running by end of next week hopefully. then its down to LA for tuning and spacers and then to my place for gauges, and other misc interior stuff.

Imma get a sound clip up ASAP and hopefully a couple clips of me drifting it the seconds I have my next track session (scary.....Imma have to get used to a new car, my last one was a hatch with an SR in it)

peace

CJ
