I am looking at heads from a disassembled "REV-UP" motor. Does anyone have a link where I can research this VQ35de "REV-UP" engine?

I'm just trying to find out whats special about the motor/heads. It's probably the same guy that is selling the heads on eBay. I was thinking it might be the anniversary motor or something.

The biggest change for the Rev-Up was the 3-stage variable exhaust cam timing (likely along with different cam profiles for intake and exhaust). This allows for a flatter torque curve. Couple this with higher RPM operation and it equates to a higher peak HP rating. I'd speculate the rods may be a bit beefier to manage the higher tensile loads of the higher revs. There are some changes to the intake runners as well.

I would generally agree. Especially for the revised VQ engine. I don't know what they fixed to stop the oil leak. But I do know the engine behaves very differently at least compared to the first engine my car had. Any take on this?

This is a discussion about the non-rev-up vs the rev-up. The rev-up is more powerful and has a flatter, broader torque curve. I don't recall what year your G has, but when the dealer replaced the motor, it would have been with the one that corresponds to your G. In other words, they wouldn't have put a rev-up VQ into a G that came with the non-rev-up motor.

The reasons for the discrepancies in how your motor feels in relation to your old motor could be many. The reason that would stick out in my mind might be the reason your old motor failed in the first place. Its a pretty broad question you're asking...

Jacko,

I notice that you ask this question a lot, so I'll help you out. The oil consumption issue was caused by faulty piston rings. That is the only part number that is different between the regular rev-up and the revised rev-up.

It's possible that the blow by on your old engine was robbing you of power. Actually it's probable that this was the situation.

Nate;

I haven't wrapped my mind around the ring as being the simple problem the engine had, eventhough this maybe the case. Anyway, how is your day?

My buddy at Riverside Infiniti is very knowledgeable regarding Nissans and Infinitis. He's worked at both a Nissan and Infiniti Dealership doing their parts/performance parts. This is what he told me.

I'm good. I still need to get a new job. Mine sucks

How about you? I heard you bought mods. Weren't you going to wait until next year? I've got blue, gray and red!!! lol

To the OP, I wouldn't mess around with trying to make your regular VQ35DE into the Rev-up version. I'm not sure that your ECU would know what to do with the extra 500 RPMs or the variable exhaust.

I am doing fine. I couldn't wait any longer to add another mod after I heard a G-35 Coupe with test pipe---the sound was great. Yes, next year, I wil be adding bigger sway bars, grounding kit, perhaps engine dampers, and possibly Strup headers. But for now, the test pipes is all i want so bad. How is the wife doing?

She's pretty good. Just a little depressed because her job ended. I'm kind of happy for her because she was driving 3 hours a day to work for only $100/day.

It definitely helped financially, but the stress was horrible.
