i wanted to know if you can put a vq35 out of a 2007 maxima into a 4th gen, and what mods would be needed? im going to get ym car sometime next summer and im saving for some kind of 240sx or maxima, i want to know if this swap is possible --THANKS

It's possible, but it would be a lot of work (just as much as any other motor swap). Don't let the fact that it's one VQ replacing another get you thinking it'll be a simple or inexpensive swap. You'd be better off getting a 5th or 6th gen to start with.

If you were to go forward with the swap, remember that the 3.5 was in the Maxima since 2002, so there's no need to hunt down a brand new wrecked Max just for it's engine.

It can be done, and it's not as hard as you think. Many people with 4th gen maximas (95-99) have swapped in VQ35's over on maxima.org. The 02-07 FWD VQ's are essentially the same with some minor variations. The motor mounts are in the same exact location as with the VQ30 and the motor isn't any bigger physically. Maxima.org has tons of info for this very swap. Good luck.
