VQ30DE MAF question

i have a 2000 infiniti i30 and i want to get an intake but i have been hearing alot of maf problems of them blowing out and what not. it there any interchangable maf units that will work better then this? what intakes should i use

It depnds on the type of filter you get.Generally the oiled type are the ones most people are talking about, as Nissan/Infiniti MAFS are real sensitive to oil in the intake stream.

Either go wityh a non oiled type filter or be <real> careful to NOT overoil the filter.

Many folks here have used oiled filter types with success as long as they exercised proper care in its maintance ( ie not overoiling)

The 2000 and 2001 VQ30DE airflow meters are very suseptable to failure regardless of the air filter. Nissan has actually updated the MAF and issued a flash program for the ECM to compensate for it. Even so if you go with an oiled filter on any hot wire airflow meter regardless of model or engine you need to excercise caution with the oiling process.

IIRC the apexi is a non oiled filter.
