You going OK? Anyway, I'm looking at using a turbo Nissan V6 in a Z for around 500RWHP.

Am favouring a JDM VQ30DET but there is talk around that the blocks on these engines flex and can crack at higher power levels. There is also talk that the VQ35 block is much stronger and VQ30 heads will bolt on, but that is really not an option for me.

So, is there a problem with the VQ30 block and, if so, can it be fixed? Some engines can have a steel plate bolted across the sump but with the design of the VQ block that would not be possible.

The VQ block is very strong. Its very rare that the block cracks. Its usually the headgasket.

As far as strapping the VQ30 heads on a 35 block that isn't the smartest thing to do. The quench areas of the 35 combustion chambers are far superior to those of the 30. The better quench area distils detonation and thus allows you to run more timing advance. Focus on beefing the rest of the motor like the valve train and headgasket. Then toss that sleeving kit in there if you so desire. Check out maxima.org for the ultimate database of VQ knowledge.

Thanks for that. Any tips as to what head gaskets should be used and what should be done with the valve gear? Rev limit?

Will have a look at the maxima site but the more opinions the better.
