Hey guys, I've been curious about this for a while. I'm sure someone has probably done it already...just wondering how feasible it would be. I just thought maybe the VQ would have a greater durability, timing chain .vs belt. How similar are the blocks and heads? How does the curb weight of the 3rd gen compare to the 4th gen?

Thanks,Scott

I do not know of any facts concerning reliability, VQ vs. VE. I know proof of reliability of the VQ, and the VE, but not compared to one another. The VE has 190hp/190tq, and you know how much the VQ has. A 1991 SE manual weighs 3029. A GXE automatic weighs 3086 generally, depending on options. I am not sure how similar the blocks and heads are though. And oh yeah, 4th gens are lighter than 3rd gens.

I might be starting a "VQ30 in a S14" thread here soon. Time to start budgeting!

as far as VQ vs VE its a personal descition I LOVE my VE however the 2003 6spd i druel over every day. BOTH motors have timing chains one down side to the VE is the VTC'S once they tick they will drive u nuts till you fix them.
