Thinking about getting a G35/37/Q40. Doing my homework and research so I appreciate your help to help me narrow it down.

Here are my questions.

1. Is the VQ37 a stroke version of VQ35? Or did the bore it out?
2. Either case, does that mean the VQ37 have thinner walls?
3. The Q40 was a G37. Did Nissan did anything at all "different" when it switch over to the Q40?

Outside of cost, which would you get? G35, G37 or Q40? Which is a better car? Again, if I have to wait and save a few more months, I will.

Anything else you want to tell me, go for it.

* In G35, I mean the 2nd gen for the U.S.

Much thanks.

I am pretty sure the G37 came with a completely new and reworked engine than the VQ35. I am almost positive they did not bore out the VQ35, nor does the 37 have thinner walls.

The Q40 is pretty much the last model of the G37 that was renamed to "keep dealers happy". I don't think there is much of a difference between the two cars except for the badging. The Q50 is a completely different vehicle.

As far as which one to buy, in my opinion that depends if you are getting a coupe or a sedan. I own a G35 coupe and personally think that it is a modern classic and looks much better than the G37 coupe and sounds better as well. I don't know why Infiniti did away with the edgy back end of the G35 for a more rounded off and dull look for the G37 (I may get some hate for this lol). The G37 has about a 30 horsepower bump over the G35 with almost the same amount of torque as the G35. However, the G37 is also 200 pounds heavier. I would buy a G37 sedan over a G35 sedan just because it looks nicer and is more refined but for the coupe, I would much prefer the G35. Both the G35 and G37 are solid and reliable cars though it is really about which one you see yourself in more, you shouldn't have many problems with either car.
