Hey guys, I was just wondering who all here has done or is doing a VQ swap and would be willing to give some advice on the swap, common problems and such.

Car:95' 240sx SE

Motor:2004.5 VQ35DE "High Rev"

Swap Kit from:VQSwap.com^I have head some good and bad things about thier kits, let me know if you have experience with it good or bad^

Bought the motor from a good friend as a long block that had been hydro-locked with one bent rod (he bought it from Nissan, and it was confirmed that the only problem was a bent rod in cyl. #4) I also got a helluva steal on it. It's no problem I'll be ordering forged internals for it within the month and sleeving the block shortly after that.

Still waiting to get a good condition transmission and I will be ordering the complete wiring harness in the next week or two.

Plans:Build for high compression, and make a good drifting application.

Projected Finish date range:01/01/10 - 04/01/10

I just posted up this week about doing a VQ40 in my zenki. The VQ40 from what I find is just a stroked VQ35HR. I'm not planning on doing the swap soon but I eventually would like to do this. If you do this swap please do a build thread. I will be following your progress closely. I know one thing for sure you will have to have a stand alone EMS that manages VVT also. Apparently the security system and engine control system are tied together so it would be a absolute bish to get all the stock harness, ignition and ECU to work right. I'm pretty sure I could squeeze the extra deck height of the VQ40 under an Origin cowl hood. The VQ35HR has a different intake setup(dual) than the VQ35DE, I'm not sure how the clearance is for it. But the biggest advantage with doing a VQ swap is that it is lighter an more compact than the RB. You can nearly get 80% of the VQ's weight behind the strut towers for a better balanced chassis.

here is a link to the VQ40 topic I created. Check it out, it has some info on there too .zer...240sx
