VQ intake questin---what is this?

it seems like either some sort of resonator or catch can since it seems empty. I had one off the car today and it's hollow inside, no filters or anything.

Started intake development today and I really don't know what to make of it. All the other intakes leave it alone, making me think it is something worth keeping. But the more I looked at it, I think they are just too cheap to supply a new silicone hose.

Can some one enlighten me.

Where does the other end of the hose go? Is it a crankcase breather? My AEM intake has a connection for a hose. I think that's the one.

it goes to the crankcase. I believe it is a cheap *** catch can, cause all the old Vq's had blow-by issues

thats what i said in his other post a couple days and got no response.... it looks like the 07+ 3.5se altima engine bay on the left and the 07+ 2.5s altima engine bay on the right
