Posting for my stepdad:

2004 Nissan Maxima, 90k miles 3.5 V6 (VQ35DE engine).I was cruising down the highway when out of the blue the CEL came on and it died.Nissan Motorville in Sheboygan says the rear O2 sensor is fried and its wire harness is totally burned up.ECM reads misfire on cylinders 3,4.6

Mechanic says there is gasoline in the fuel injector electrical cable harness. The injectors have evidently failed and pushed fuel back out the wire harness.

Have you ever heard of such a thing? Sounds F'in crazy to me.

I've told them to pull one spark plug and one injector, and see we they find.

They want $2200 just for parts., and I still owe $10k on the car. (No warranty.)

Any ideas?

What am I missing, a 6 year old 90k vehicle is only worth 16% of new MSRP............you have mileage of 8 year old average car thus deduction.

Obviously you may have found the life of injectors when exposed to ethanol? All bets are off when you consider E10.

Shame you didn't have a fire then Nissan might have helped.

Didn't Wisconsin have serious gasoline problems in recent past?http://www.wistech.org/2005/03....html
