so we keep having all these arguements which are only fun to a point and it seems like people are getting tired of it (both sides). So lets try something a little different...

It seems a lot of of us (me included) aren't really fans of either candidate but have made a decision based on voting against the other guy. so heres the poll question:

Who are you voting for, and are you voting for them or against[/] the other guy?

EDIT: I suck can somebody move this to politics?

I've seen some pretty dumb posts but yours, by far, tops the list.

That's Nico's resident fuitcake...pay him little to no attention as he only replies when spoken to for the most part.

The sad truth is I haven't been able to vote FOR someone in quite sometime. Personally I think our system is broken. When the people of America can't vote someone into office because the current regime, be it Dem or Repubs, doesn't support them then it is no longer "By the people for the people" but instead "By the party for the party"...

It doesn't matter who's actually in office, they are all liars in some way or another. They all make shady deals, they all take payoff's or "donations"...they all waste our tax dollars.

They poll the people then do whatever they want anyway.

I think it's time we exercised our right to "throw down the Gov" and start over. Yeah it would take awhile to do, but replacing one candidate for another 4 years at a time while keeping the same infrastructure isn't EVER going to bring the changes a lot of us would like to see. Obama preaches change, but he isn't going to DO anything...he may even try, but he will fail. That's not an anti Obama line either, it's just that he is preaching about change..but he simply won't be able to do much of anything. We need REAL change...to do that the people need to regain control.

Of course this is all my opinion. I think Obama is a lying dog and I think McCain may actually die on the spot if he gets elected. I don't care for either...so I'm forced to vote for what IMO is the lesser piece of crap.

Good thread topic

Brian, sometimes you're painfully truthful.

Look third party. You may actually find someone to vote FOR. We have to start the long road to taking it back sometime. May as well be now.

holy crap we agree

I don't think either of them willA) be able toandB) really try to

make the change that is neccesary. Ignoring the fact that they disagree on what, neither will do it. It is unfortunate because we have a huge group of civil servants who are, for the most part, very dedicated and good at their jobs. And they are overpowered by poltical measures.

Honestly though this is where I get really upset with Bush. For those on btoh sides, consider if you want to risk the other guy winning and then having the powers that Bush has declared he has. The role that has developed for the president (and not just in the last 8 years) isn't helping the situation at all.

Yes, but unfortunately, that's like wasting a vote that gets wasted voting against a candidate. I'd like to see three (or more) viable, equally recognized mainline parties.

Mainline parties have gotten where we are...

We need Independants that don't pander to anyone. Just make each decision based on whats best for the Nation...not whats best for the party.

Unless you start voting for them sometime how do they become viable?

At least if the Republican or Democrat who gets elected only gets 30% of the vote because 29% went to the other major party and 41% is split among 15 or 20 minor "third parties" the clown that gets elected can't claim a mandate by the American people. Gradually a few of those third parties will get strong enough to become factors on their own and have candidates elected.

I have never felt I wasted a vote by expressing my displeasure with both the major parties while voting FOR someone else.

in order to do that, you have to make sure its no longer possible for mr money bags big business to come in and voice their vote to the tune of 10 million dollars. both parties are up to their eyes in other people's money, and are unwilling to turn off the taps. its by the people, for the companies, now. its sad really since its a commentary on how democracy doesnt work in the country, the champion of democracy.

I honestly think this shows the benefit of a parlimentary system over a federal system like ours. Third parties can more easily become valid parts of the political landscape. Also means the highest elected official in the country is still answerable to a very small group of citizens in his constituency. It reminds them of who really owns the power
