What do you all think the most well built (But not necessarily the most reliable) car is from 1985-95......?

I have given this some thought, and some cars I came up with are......

BMW 750il (88-93)

90-95 infiniti Q45 (of course :D )

W123 MBZ....... Thats like the 400, and the diesels...... They have a million mile club for those cars

1st generation Lexus LS400

What do you guys think???

It was 70s volvo coupe...... The only coupe volvo has made until recent years....... I think....

Anyway, he had it on the today show, and said that he has only had the engine rebuilt once, and the transmission a couple times......

The McLaren F1, no contest. Engineering perfection.

As for mass-produced cars, I'd say the LS400. Toyota really pushed on surpassing the Europeans on quality and reliability with that car.

Any maxima during that time period. Most powerful engine in their class and can easily go for 200k plus miles.

absolutely the 1991-1996 g20 , it was rated more relable than anything in its class , and when your class has civic and corolla in it you know youve done something right

as for off a cliff into a tree with the roof i dont think it was really intended for that so i have no clue on how safe it is

as for engineering id have to say either the up armor 95 humvee , the active Q ,1991 louts elan (ever see the suspension on this thing?) ,porsche 959, or the mac f1

240SX baby! My 89 runs great, no problem at all after 216.9k miles. transmission shifts great, nothings been redone except the timing chain. But one timing chain vs several belts over 200K+ miles is about even if you ask me. Maxima's are tough too, 5speed maxs anyway. Nissan built so well, their new stuff is probably a downgrade in longevity, im not the biggest fan of VQ-QR engines.
