Hey guys im new to this site. I just came from the self centered G35 Fourm Site (G35Driver.com) well im looking for advice not to be made fun of. Well Im considering getting a Vortech SC for my 06 G35 Coupe A/T. I was wondering if it is true that if you get it with a auto you have to shift manual when you have the SC? Also would this be a safe mod for reliability wise like in the long haul. Cause i heard that the SC for the G35's kills the motor after like around 100K miles. But idk it might be people just doing crazy boost and messing it up. Well please let me know about the Vortech SC for A/T. And what else i would have to do to my G35 to handle the SC power. Once again Thanks

Welcome to NICO! We try and respect our members here and are happy to answer your questions.

So the deal with superchargers, or any forced induction system, is that it puts additional strain on the engine components and increases the amount of wear and thus cause premature failures. However, this can minimized with proper tuning from a reputable engine shop/tuner.

The statement that you have to manually shift an auto is bs. When you "manually" shift, your just tell the car to shift rather than do it automatically. The system will not allow you to shift into a gear that will damage the engine/trans. The only thing you should consider if your concerned about reliability is getting a shift kit installed. This can help prevent damage to the transmission by making the shifts quicker. The less time the transmission is between shifting the better.

Finally, blanket statements about how many miles a SC'd car will last are just a guess. It all depends on how you drive it. If you punch it at every street light and track on the weekends, it will cause it to wear faster then "normal" driving. Of course using premium gas and proper tuning plays a role too.

Hope this helps!

What ^^^ said....

With an auto you will need a valve body modification and a good transmission cooler. Otherwise, as long as you don't overpower the A/T I don't see any real issue.
