Problem: Apparently the Bose systems in our cars have a bass saver function that turns the bass down as you crank up the volume- in an effort to not have a chernobyl repeat when the speakers blow up I assume.

Question: I have my woofer amp connected to the rear speakers (I spliced into the rear speaker wires where they connect to the Bose amp) because that seems to be the only simple way to do it without ripping the dash apart. Is there a way to connect the woofer so that it doesn't almost turn off when the volume is higher?

Answer: Anyone?

EDIT: My stock Bose woofer still sounds great, but it rattles like it's got pennies stuck in it. Obviously, I've looked, but couldn't find anything. Anyone got a fix for this?

I'm daydreaming at work, so I can't try my idea to make my woofer's volume not fluctuate - What if the output to the amp came from the front tweeters? Because wth the volume turned up on the stereo, the bass turns down, not the treble.

*This will either work perfectly, or it will do just the opposite and make the woofer's amp have to work harder to suck the bass from the tweeters (which don't have bass to begin with).

Any thoughts?

I think that the audio leveling is an internal part of the amp, and a really hard one to bypass. I don't think you can do it without opening up the amp.

Me and anything with wires (even a calculator) do not get along. I don't think I'll be taking the amp apart anytime soon, but that gives me another idea... Can I wire in the woofer before the Bose amp? There has to be audio outputs directly from the stereo in the dash (because a stereo signal has to get to the amp from the stereo somehow) - maybe I could connect to the rear speakers there?

if your amp has a db jack you can buy a db adjuster that will enable you to control the level of your subs from the driver seat. the factory headunit does not have rca inputs on it, it is all wired through the amp with regualr speaker wires. this is the reason why you ALWAYS have to bypass the factory amp when getting a new head unit.

That's why I've got a speaker wire to RCA converter. I just have to find the right audio output from the stock system to go to the input on the woofer amp.
