I searched and found various other problems with the Bose headunits but none that addressed my issue. Basically, the volume knob doesnt work anymore(well sometimes). I can turn it on and off, but when i turn the knob to change volume level, sometimes it is unresponsive and sometimes it does the opposite of what i want it to do. Something inside isnt making good contact or something. Has anyone encountered this? Is it worth taking apart to try to find the problem?

TIA

It's a very common problem with the i30. I took mine apart, cleaned the contacts and tried everything to no avail. Your better off just buying a new switch.

I have the same problem, mine seems to vary with how hard I push down on the switch when I move the control. I havn't had the issue in a long time though, its really annoying when I go to turn the volume down to answer my phone and it jacks all the way up on me. Have to turn the radio off.

I misunderstood. Are we talking about the steering volume controls or h/u volume?

H/U.

Trent, mine does the exact same thing. Sometimes it magically works though. What I usually do is hook up my mp3 player to it, turn the H/U's volume way up, then i adjust volume settings on the mp3 player to find the volume i want. However, it gets old quick.

I ended up fixing the problem the other night. Took the bose head unit apart, had to end up taking the actual volume control assembly apart. TEDIOUS work but it works now. yay me
