Hi folks. I'm new to the site, just bought a used 99 Maxima which ran fine for about 2 weeks then started having electrical problems. Thought it was a bad ground, and the negative terminal on the battery looked pretty bad, so I replaced it, making sure I had a good connection. I then read battery voltage with the engine off and got 12.8 v which sounds about right to me. Next I started the engine, and checked the voltage across the battery and read about 19.2 v which I know is way too high. I'm thinking the voltage regulator is bad, but I don't know if it's integrated into the alternator, or if it's regulated by the onboard computer. Can anyone help me out?

It's part of the alternator. There does appear to be a 7.5A fuse that is in that wiring. See page EL-30, 31. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/1999/EL.pdf
