What should the proper voltage be for the rb20 with quest alt? Mine sits at roughly 13.6 running but drops to 13.0 with all accesories going. This seems a bit low to me and its seems to be affecting ignition under heavy load(i.e. sputtering). I have a brand new battery with a brand new 125 amp quest alternator.

That's too low. Should be a solid 14v.

Thats what i thought as well but im not sure what to do to bring it up. i think im gonna check the voltage at the alternator tomorrow to see if its a problem there or something on down the line. hopefully its just a loose connection or something .

i see a solid 14.5v damn near constant.check connections...also check with a 'real' multimeter.also depending on where you have your gauge wired can also dictate what you see...a friend had a voltage gauge tapped into the ignition harness and it read 13.2v but when he ran it directly to the battery it read 14.5v.food for thought.

Thanks carl i was hopin you would pop in. i plan on using a set of fluke multimeters, i refuse to buy cheap meters , too much to go wrong if they arent dead on. Im getting my reading through my SAFC.
