The Kizashi beat it in sales? I don't even know where there is a Suzuki dealership around here.

It's because it went from being VW's top-end luxury car with V8 option to an entry level midsize budgetmobile with a fourbanger pretty much overnight. Just volkswagen doing what it does best: not knowing what the Hell is going on.

I honestly can't think of a VW branded vehicle in the last 10 yrs that I would even consider purchasing. None of them even remotely interest me at all.

What's even more pathetic is that Chrysler sold 5,605 Avengers, which I consider to be 10x worse than any VW. I also love seeing the Malibu outselling the ridiculously bland Camry and the Fusion is close to catching up too.

The Tiguan is pretty fun.

I'd rather have a used Cayenne than a Tiguan though.

as for VW's I'd consider...it'd be the GTI and that's it.

I'd probably opt for a Civic Si instead though. Waaaaaiiiiit, I did.

Oh, I wouldn't mind a VW R32 (think a V6 AWD (quattro), stickshift, recaro seats, with a golf body. very entertaining little sleeper. :bigthumb:

Anything but an R32 is crap. Im glad to see it. I personally have a grudge against VW.

Well atleast the Nissan Leaf sold more than 1 (I think like 4) in the first month it was out.

I think i'd rather have a de-badged Audi S4 Avant personally, although I agree on the sleeper part, the R32 is quite fugly IMHO.

Yep, I would also take an S4 Avant over any VW, well, except perhaps for an old VW Westphalia Camper Microbus, they are pretty cool. I also kinda liked the ol' VW squareback wagon.

I also agree that VW uglified the R32 when they freshened it. The previous ones are not that bad. There are usually a few R32's at the track events I attend. They really are nice cars.

The Focus RS500 looks much better and the sound gets me happy in happy places, but sadly we still don't have one here :frown:

Agreed! :yesnod (I owned a Rabbit GTI many, many years ago ...)

My father-in-law drove a rental Passat all over Europe many years ago and liked it a lot ...

That was in June.

Also, from the site you linked, apparently, they also only sold one in May and none in April!

That is TWO total Passat sales in three months. Yikes!

You guys remember Evan? He worked at that VW-Infiniti dealer and bought a [2006?] GTI. It ended up needing $10k in warranty work. He got rid of it.

I remember riding in it though. Really cool car.

Oh I'm sure they think they know what they're doing. Though it almost seems like a typo as VW reported a 35% increase in sales June 2011 vs June 2010.

VW also announced they've begun producing/shipping the next generation Passat (built at their Chattanooga plant ) preparing for a September release. If the sales volume data is true, which I don't trust, then it appears VW might be holding back the new Passats pending a big dog/pony show introduction. Traditionally, during a redesign, most manufacturers discount their old models to get rid of them before the new ones arrive. this is why the 1 sale figure seems odd to me.

The "1" could be a demonstrator sold to a dealer.

I was referring to water cooled VW's.

that must be clarified.

the old air cooled bugs are fantastic cars.

I remember him making threads about that car and it's new CEL of the week all the time.

yeah.

I remember him getting that around the same time I got my EP3.

I've got 150k on it and the occasional CEL when it's cold from the lower 02 sensor.

I might fix it at some point...might.

only problem I've had from that car is the crappy AC compressors they have.

I just haven't gotten around to shelling out the 400 bucks for one to put on it.

The R32 hasn't offered a stickshift in many many moons :(

They paved the way for Nissan's GTR in offering dual clutch auto only.
