so i know theres a big controversy about it, but in all reality, if i were to add an intake and exhaust system, would i void my warranty? (ive already added a sound system so i might have already screwed myself)

Depends more on what kind of problems you experience. If you start having problems with the seat mechanism, the dealer probably will still honor the warranty despite the sound system or intake/exhaust. But if your electrical system fries, the dealer might decided your sound system is the cause and thus refuse to repair it under warranty.

Replacing an engine part might lead towards the same sort of response to any engine problem.

Technically, any modifications to the electrical system can void the electrical warranty (including aftermarket stereos), and any modification to the exhaust system can void the emissions warranty (I think). Also, keep in mind, if you install a custom exhaust, or stereo, and either causes a fire, your SOL as far as the manufacturer is concerned.

Your warranty cannot be voided until it has been determined, with proof, that the part that you've changed caused a failure of a part. So if you change out your exhaust and you run into problems with you exhaust valves burning up, you can have the warranty voided. They aren't allowed to pick and choose items to void your warranty. They will need to investigate and show how you aftermarket part caused the failure. Also, your warranty is with Nissan, not the dealer. The dealer can not void your warranty. Nissan has to void the warranty and until then the dealer has an obligation to perform the work.

This is the law that protects you from dealers playing the "void-your-warrantee" game.
