so the only mod on my 11' altima coupe is the nismo exhaust as of right now and thats because it is covered under the dealer warranty. Ive wanted an intake but dont want them to void the the warranty and they never made a nismo intake ever unfortunatley :frown: unless someone knows something i dont like a prototype please tell. So for now im saying screw the warranty and going for an intake, my question is if an issue does comes up would it be easy and quick to swap back in the oem intake and slip right under the stealerships rader if an issue ever comes up with out them being able to blaming it on the intake?!

if so what intake do you guys recomend?
i know injen makes good quility stuff and is #1 on my list followed by stillen but what about Takeda or what ever you call it / Weapon R. Which intake would give you more of a gain for the money (i known this has probably been asked to death  )

Quick change if you need to(15-30 minutes), dealer won't know, btw I have the Takeda and love it. MAF sensor is located close to where the OEM was. Intake won't void the warranty unless it directly causes engine issues.

Long story short, the dealership can't void your warranty unless they can prove that the part directly caused the failure. AKA, if you install an intake, and your suspension fails, your suspension is still covered. Its harder if an engine piece fails, but they'll have a hard time proving that an intake caused something like a cylinder misfire. If a dealership ever denies you warranty coverage, make sure you contact SEMA or somebody similar to make sure you aren't being bullied out of coverage.

There is now a NISMO intake. I forget the link to it but it's the same as the AEM one I used to have which was quite good.

I have Takeda as well and I say it is DEFINITELY worth every dollar. Get it off ebay with your best offer. You'll love it.

Question though: If your intake DOES cause something to mess up, you can always just change it back to your OEM intake box before taking it into the dealership right? That way they can't void the warranty.

I suppose that depends on how often you frequent the dealership. I'm there every three months because I got a VIP club thing for free which is free oil changes, free tire rotations/inspections, and discounts on parts that are regular wear and tear. If they see you have an intake every three months like they've seen in my engine bay, they may have made a note of it by now. But cruising around town and gunning it every once in a while isn't going to cause any major failures. Regular wear and tear stuff I have no problem paying for. But if my transmission fails, I expect that to be covered because the intake has nothing to do with it. If you don't frequent the dealership too often, then that would probably work.

this is exactly what i was thinking

by the way i filled up my car with 93 octane today and it gave it a bit more of a kick and def noticed a slightly more agressive exhaust note :woot:

The intake is a very sensitive part of the vehicle. If you ask a dealership, an aftermarket intake will void the warranty. Any faults with the intake, especially the filter, can cause total engine failure depending on what gets sucked in.

However, due to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act http://www.impalaclub.com/naisso/magmoss.htm - the dealership has to prove that the aftermarket part caused the failure to legally deny the warranty. It doesn't mean that dealerships won't try to deny warranty coverage, but you do have some protection.

I would recommend going with one of two intakes:

K&N, because of their Consumer Protection Pledge and Engine Protection Limited Warranty: http://www.knfilters.com/warranty.htm. Here is the compatible one, which is CARB legal on the 08 and 09 models. I ordered mine from Amazon and it came with the CARB sticker. http://www.amazon.com/69-7062TTK-Black- ... B002EIE3K4

The second would be the Nismo intake. It seems that one now exists for the later models: http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-NISMO-2 ... 0916275027. This is obviously a rebranded AEM intake, which happens to now be owned by K&N. The part number is 16576-RNL35. Oddly enough, I have never seen this on the Nissan's website, so I would definitely call Nissan Consumer Affairs to find out if it a genuine Nissan part and whether it would void the warranty. If you're really concerned about the warranty and don't want to worry about swapping it out, check out this one.

yea ive seen that intake but since you cant see a nismo logo on the picture anyway + the fact its on ebay i wouldn't trust it.
I wish stillen made a stage 2 or 3 intake for our cars like they do for the Z that had a longer tube and was in a better location to recieve airflow. while looking at my coupes bay today (2.5) i noticed the intake duct was towards the front left of the car while the filter was in the in the back right and most intakes sit in this section of the bay far from the intake duct and its tube so how can the aftermarket intakes give the car efficient air. i know they may say it creates a vortex or more velocity or w/e they say but having a long tube intake may be better of. i dont know if anyone kind of gets what im saying . stock intake set up seems more efficient, maybe even a pop charger would be better of.

Is that Warranty void law (proving that the fault is from the aftermarket item) only applied in the US?
Because I went to the dealership the other day, and I saw that they wrote a note that says: "Car has been modified". Just because of the vinyl wrap! I fought with them because the trunk finisher was loose and I wanted a new one for free (warranty), I showed them that it was loose even before I put the vinyl on the trunk, but I guess they forgot to note it down. Eventually I made them change it for free! :naughty:
And if that law really applies everywhere, then Eibachs... HERE I COME!!

It's a US court case, so legally the dealership does not have to honor it. You can always bluff them into thinking they do.

I know that the UAE has many car enthusiasts. I would check with the laws of your country to see if there is something similar.

I have the injen intake and have had no issues with my dealership. I'm guessing it also helps that I put my CARB legality sticker directly onto my intake.
