Is the price of $250 really worth the benefits of a VLSD for your average daily driver? I know exactly the benefits and physics of one of these units, but on a tight budget is money better spent elsewhere? $250 can buy alot of things for the resourceful, but if one has the chance to get hold of a good, low mileage, directly bolt-up VLSD for this price should it be passed up?

Do you have lots of traction problems? If so...or if you do much racing at all...yeah I think I'd have to do it!

It is an R200, and I believe it's a 3.89. I do have traction problems if and when I race, but I do a fair bit of autoxing. The diff is out of a 96 J30, which is direct bolt up as I belive.........

Hmmm. I have been pricing R200's with the 4.08's at around $500, so that's a good deal (IF it's the gear ratio you want).

the 3.89 will be worse for drag racing, but better for all arround driving and/or autoX

Exactly, and I do a hell of alot of around town and highway driving, so 3.89 is sounding better and better.......

the 3.89 will improve your gas milage for sure, and will make a slight (12-15mph) increase in your top end speed if you don't have a governor.

sorry to butt in here, but what are the disadvantages of the 3.89 ratio? Aries said its worse for drag racing, is that in comparison to the 4.08 or non-LSD form? (I assume in comparison to 4.08)

correct, a taller final drive ratio correllates to losing a measure of torque, however it will raise your top-speed and net you better gas mileage.

Yes, I was only referring to the ring and pinion, the LSD will be great for drag :)
