when a vlsd wears out will it just act as a normal open diff, if so will it hurt to drive it when it is worn? I have read some posts and I think a vlsd is not for me

The stock VLSDs, while very durable, aren't very effective. For general highway use, they work fine, but at the strip, or for drift, they really don't work very well at all. Get a KAAZ, or a Tomei (almost identical). Both come with new side bearings already pressed on, and only need to have the lash adjusted for install. Don't mess with the pinion, and no adjustment or set up other than the lash is needed.

Both the KAAZ and Tomei are very durable, and will hold up to drag use or drift use. Also very effective for track lapping.

Want to go all out? Get the Carbonetic. Very expensive, but one of the very best.
