What is the difference between VLSD and Helical? Why is Helical more expensive? What are the advantages of Helical over VLSD?

This has nothing to do with SR's.

Basically viscous LSD's have fluid packs inside them that thicken when force is applied to them making the wheels turn generally at the same or similar speeds. They came on 1991-1998 S13's.

Helical LSD's have no fluid, they have gears in them and distribute power to the wheels evenly as long as there is some pressure on both wheels. These came on most S15 Spec R's. This is why they are more expensive.

It is a VLSD but the price is outrageous. Usually people just buy VLSD's in the pumpkin, installing could require new oil rings, and precise installation of the diff in relation to the gears otherwise the teeth may wear away.

Here are a couple of examples:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItemh ... rs...wItem
