Typical uneducated response...:rolleyes

Open diff will leave two marks most of the time. Look at driver's side of diff for orange sticker that says "VLSD." Do you have ABS? If you do, then you probably have a VLSD.

If you choose the redneck method by spinning your tires, do donuts and look for two tire marks.

Pull off the side of the road into dirt or grass and drop it and if it takes off instaed of just spiingin the one tire like crazy then your lsd.

with my open diff it will still make 2 marks when doing a donut, but one will be alot darker.

it also definitely leaves two marks when just launching it straight

why waste good tire??

that dirt trick won't work...i've done that and still get a decent launch...

you have to jack the rear end up and look for the orange sticker on the diff that says VLSD...or...if your too lazy to do that while the car is in the air spin one tire, if the other spins the same way it's a vlsd if it spins the opposite way it's an open diff

HICAS VLSD will bolt up but you need to get the shorter driveshaft because of the ABS that HICAS models come equipped with. I'm not sure, but I think even the output shafts are the same? A little help (I'm not the expert cause my car came with one already on it)?

For the S14 SE and LE, it only came with ABS and VLSD as a package.

If you have ABS (look for the dummy light, or the big distribution block under the hood, behind the intake manifold), then you have LSD.

If not, read here for you options:

the output flanges are the same. 2 bolts per point (total 6). That's where the similarity stops. V LSD outputs are longer than open diff outputs, so you need to make sure you have the V LSD outputs if you end up swapping in a V LSD
