hey, i have a couple questions for all of you. i have a 1990 nissan 240sx wit a blacktop sr20det, and i want to put a vlsd into it. my car currently doesn't have a lsd, it's just an open wheel differential i don't have abs or hicas. i was wondering what was needed in order to swap a vlsd into my 240sx. Do i just need a vlsd out of a 180sx or silvia and the rear jdm axle as well, do i need a silvia driveshaft? if you could help me with the parts i need to swap the vlsd that would be great.thanks

First off, a quick search would give you TONS of great threads with all the answers you need.

If you order a JDM VLSD, the output shafts from your car will work. That is the only way to use your output shafts. Now, if you get a R200 (off of a non turbo Z32) that has the same gear ratio as the 240SX, but 5 bolt halfshafts (stronger) A J30 VLSD will work, but the gears different, and you will lose acceleration, but gain top end. So there ya go. As far as drive shaft, the stock shaft will work if the diff came from a non ABS car IIRC, but don't quote me on that.

You could also swap in another s13/s14 lsd if you happen to find one. Make sure you use their output shafts and they will bolt on to your axles :)

Oh man, I have no clue. I have heard 2 differing stories on the helical LSD, one that it can be just thrown in the OE housing, the other is that it is the biggest PITA to do.
