If you cant get one for much, much under 600 just buy a used kaaz 2 way. I know I did not answer your question but, a kaaz is better than any factory unit.

kinda related question...Were all the j-30's vlsd? I was just junkyarding today and found one with the six bolt axles. Yard wants $175 for everything...axles,pumpkin,wheels,brakes. I know a j-30 one will fit an s-13 .The yard doesn't have the key for it so the usual test for wheel spin won't work ...
