I just got my j30 vlsd today and im going to change the fluid but im not sure what to replace it with. i bought the only thing that said anything about lsd but im not sure if it has the aditive for a vlsd or not it is castrol hypoy c gear oil 80w-90. Is this the right stuff? Also when i install what do i do about the hose on the nose of the diff i think it is the abs sensor. I asume i just seal it off but i just wanted to cheak. Thanx for the help.

No need to worry about it. The viscous coupling is sealed and needs no external lubricant. Any oil that can be used on the open diff will work fine on the VLSD.

As far as the hole, I've left mine open. The chances that something will get in there are slim, and if something does, it will likely be small so I doubt it will do any harm.

C-kwik. thanx for the help. Did you shorten your drive shaft? If i dont do it what are are the consiquinces and how costly will they be? What will it cost to shorten it? thanx.

im using a j30 diff on my 90 coupe, i just pushed the driveshaft back a bit and it fits. theres enough play in the driveshaft to let you do this, but if you really want to make it the way Nissan did it, get a superhicas driveshaft.

I have a J30 in my 92 and it works fine with the stock driveshaft, just a little tighter but nothing to worry about.

I'm also using 75w-90 oil.
