for those of you who get angry at often asked questions, I already searched.

I've got an s14 vlsd sitting in my garage. unfortunatly, it doesn't have output shafts on it. the shafts from my s13 open diff. should be long enough to engage the viscous coupling, right?

also: the extra half inch or whatever length in the diff. casing (because of the ABS sensor) won't cause any fitting problems, as the slack can be taken up elsewhere in the driveline, correct?

I don't know if the s13 driveshaft has a slip-yolk or not. If it does then maybe it'll pull in the slack. But, I'm fairly certian it is a one piece driveshaft... although I could be wrong. If it is one piece then there is no room for adjustment and you'll need to find a driveshaft from an s13 with ABS.

I have also heard that the non-VLSD diff output shafts won't work. This is all just hearsay because I've never had to do this swap... I'm sorry that I can't guarantee the accuracy of the info.

You need S13 VLSD driveshafts for it to work.

I've also been searching and I keep finding conflicting info. Will the s14 vlsd fit in my 95 (open diff)with no probs? except for the notorious 1/2" maybe? Do I need the outputs too from the s14?

nismo, what about s14 vlsd driveshafts? or do they have the wrong bolt pattern?

No you can't use your open diff. output shaft(s). The right side one is not long enough to engage the vicous coupling inside the lsd unit and the left side is too long to seal properly. You have to buy z32 output shafts from nissan but they are $200+ for each side. Or you can go to a junk yard. Or you can do what I did, buy the viscous side(right side) output shaft (Nissan) and chop saw the left side 1/4'' above the c-clip. Plugs in perfectly no problems with mine. Make sure you add friction modifier so you don't burn those clutches.

No and no...

Z32 output flanges have a 5-bolt pattern, and do not bolt to S13/S14 half-shafts (axles).

You need either S13/S14 VLSD output flanges, or '95-96 J30 output flanbges...should be the same part #.

And no need for a friction modifier - The viscous unit in the diff is sealed, so no special fluid is required - Any 80W-90 GL5 oil is fine - 3 1/8 pints.
