if i bought a VLSD from a J30 or 180sx and it had the 5 bolt pattern output shafts, could i remove the shafts from my open diff and use those in the VLSD or no? Thanks.

i'm not 100% sure what the op is asking but it sounds like yes.

op- you have a vlsd and want to swap in you regular non lsd output shafts to use your stock axles, correct? i'm almost certain this wouldnt work with a j30 diff, but i have a vlsd out of a 97 180sx. i swapped the guts of the vlsd into my stock diff housing and used stock axles and output shafts. so find out exactly what vlsd you have to be certain.

He said he had the j30 with the 5 bolt pattern. Im pretty sure your stock open dif shafts wont work In the j30 housing. your best bet is to get some axles for 90 bux at autozone. thats what i had to do for my z32 diff.
