i have searched for the past three days about this, but i can't seem to find a definate answer-all i find is bits and pieces, as well as flaming remarks. i have an 89 240 swith s13 sr20det. i just found a 1994 j30 with the vlsd in it. i just want to know if i can use this for my 240, and/or what i will need to do to make it work. this is the information i have gathered, but really am not sure on the accuracy:

1) i do not need axles2)swap the rear covers out????????????????????????

can someone help me please-i dont wanna let this thing get away-it's only a hundred bucks-thanks guys/girls

You really should search. This has been covered a million times.

But for the millionth and one time, the J30 VLSD will fit into your car with the correct axles and rear cover. If it has the 5 bolt axle shafts, you need the 5 bolt axles. Take the cover off your differential and put it on the back for the J30's and viola! a VLSD ready to bolt into your car.
