VLSD's are ok. Once the fluid heats up after an hour or so of drifting it will act like an open diff , but it'll still send torque to both wheels no matter how minimum , but if you park it , the fluid will cool and you'll be good to go.(god , ive said this 100 times). I would offer him 300 if it comes with axles. But make sure to test it to make sure its a real VLSD. Grab the "two ends" and try to spin them opposite from each other. If you can't do it , then its a VLSD. Also , look for the orange sticker.

Some need axles , and that why the high price. Some diffs are 5 bolt , and some are 6 bolt.

$350 is to high. A couple more hundred and you can have yourself a real LSD.

Welded diffs are good for drifting on tracks only IMO. You will have 100% full lock under decel and accel at all times , wich is good for drifting but not good for everyday driving , especially in the wet/snow. I say do it , if you dont like it , take it out and find a cheaper VLSD.

Here is what welded diff owners have to say....

lol @ a it "looks" like brand new. and yea, 350 is way too much. id do what slappy said and save a few hundred extra and get a real diff. then tell your friend hes a d*ck for trying to rip you off.

just use it since you are basically stuck with it. Make sure it is a real vlsd first tho. Any who, you will have fun with it. Just get used to sliding around and sell it once you are ready for a welded or clutch type. <exactly what i did.

If you have the VLSD now , it would be a good idea to drain out the old fluid and put some new 75w90 synthetic gear fluid in it. Buy a good name brand fluid , or just ge Nissan. Some people use GM.

Do not use Redline, Royal purple, or Motul.

Do not use any LSD additive.

No no , not if its new. Just change it in the next 30-50k miles , or depending on how hard you beat it.

More info i posted here..
