is there a way to tell if your lsd is a vlsd or clutch-type (kaaz) without removing the diff from the car? will the clutch type always click? thanks

Well VLSDS usualy have the famous orange sticker but it could just be an internal replacement. Best way i guess would be go to a parking lot, drop the hammer at 4k and get someone to watch your tires and see if its instant hookup with both or if its delayed because i beleive the VLSD takes a fraction of a second to engage because the silicone has to heat up.

Why do you need to know this other than changing diff fluid? I mean is it just installed in your car you just bought and odds are its going to be a VLSD because there is a major price difference in the 2 and it would be noted when you bought it.

does it pop, clunk or skip around very tight turns? thats a pretty good way of finding out. VLSD's don't lock hard enough to do that.

yeah that's what i would think would be the only way of knowing: the clicking......but not sure if a clutchtype will always click.
