I searched and I only found one answer to this question...most threads deal with application rather than specs...

Is the factory VLSD a one-way, 1.5 or Two-way LSD?

Hmm...That is interesting beacuse I found a post that said it was two-way. I can see why, if the lock-up is dependent on Fluid tempreature...it should lock in either direction...any comments?

Using that logic, all LSD's would be 2-way.

sooooo are all VLSDs 2 way? because i can see hwo the cluthc type ones would be one way since direction would matter.

It is a two-way. It provides the same lock-up in acceleration and deceleration. The VLSDs provide resistance at all times with the only changes in lock-up only occuring with changes in fluid viscosity. The VLSD does not differentiate direction of travel. Mechanical 1.5 and 2 ways always have some resistance, but during acceleration and deceleration they actively lock-up more. 2-way does it equally in both directions and 1.5 does it less during decelration. A VLSD is essentially always active. the torque transfer in both directions is potentially equal.

Na...see I just was wondering whether Nissan VLSD's are one way or two way, and I have gotten different answers...One post said it was a two-way...but I thought that is to good to be true...Then a posted this thread, and someone has said its one way...I am just looking for some consensus..

Thank you C-Kwik...I knew there had to be a difference between the mechanical and viscous...Then my logic was aptly applied...

I have a couple questions...1. how big is the stock viscous coupler in the VLSD2. how big of a viscous coupler could you fit in there? I can imagine a bigger one with plates closer together or something could have pretty good locking characteristics.
