I purchased a "s14 5 bolt vlsd" yesterday, i checked it out looked good etc. I know i have to swap the rear covers but I does anyone know if this vlsd has abs and if i have to get a abs drive shaft. Also can someone explain wtf this means 1/94+ J30 VLSD

Yea yea yea i am searching but some stuff just isn't making sense. Hung over from last night and to wake up and find info on a diff isnt fun

What is a 5 bolt VLSD? What is 5 bolts? The LSD pumpkin should have 4 bolts (that connect to the car's rear subframe) but some input shafts have a 5 bolt pattern. But 240SX's have a 6 bolt pattern.

You will know if it is ABS if it is longer then your current LSD pumpkin or if there is a sensor on the pumpkin or a place for a sensor. Also if it is ABS dont get a J30 driveshaft get a steel one piece or an aluminum.

Maybe it means 1994+ J30 VLSD

ALSO being "hung over" or "drunk" isn't an excuse. Looking up info sober or drunk isnt fun.

Enjoy & Merry Christmas

Its an s14 diff there for it has only 2 bolts that connect to the subframe there for i must change the rear cover to bolt- on to my s13. I will check out what you said about the abs sensor. The diff has a 5 bolt pattern on the where the axles go there for i would lke to know the correct years of the j30 that will fit the diff.

Anyone know what this means 1/94+ J30 VLSD. I was searching and the 94+ are all bolt thats why i am still lost

A 5 bolt means the axles, as opposed to the 6 bolt stock axles. Your VLSD which came from a J30 (because its 5 bolt) does have ABS. Side by side its about an inch longer because of the ABS speed sensor located at the input shaft. If it does have the ABS sensor just leave it in and cut the wires.

You can swap the covers and put it in, you should have enough driveshaft play to make it work without needing an abs driveshaft.

I just took these pics for you, I just happened to have them sitting side by side

This is side by side the left is a J30 5bolt. Right is the R200 from my S13 (it has a Cusco 1.5 way LSD in it, and a Z32 turbo 3.69 ring gear but I blew it and made it an open diff). non abs with abs 6 bolt 5 bolt

Either the J30 diff looks exactly like the "s14 jdm one" or i got ripped my diff looks exactly like that. I also believe the numbers are the same R2______

Its just a J30 rear, not a s14 because its a 5 bolt. Just swap covers, install with axels and call it a day it will fit.

looks like a 93 j30 rear end someone pulled from a junkyard. you'll need axles. the 95 j30 rear is a direct bolt in after swapping the rear cover.

Is it only the 95 axles that fit?
