Just got a vlsd and I took off the cover to replace it with my stock cover since the studs on the cover was banged up. It has a metal gasket on it. Can I replace this with just the silicone gasket or do I need to go to the dealer and get a new one? Or should I just use the old one?

thanks.

when i did my j30 swap, i just even out the gasket area and applied RTV silicone gasket and that's it, never leak.

wish me luck. I just bolted up the cover with ultra black rtv silicone. Hope it works. I'll let it cure over night then throw the oil in.

Working good! No leaking. Drives very good.

Karma- I am using the original vlsd cover. I just ran a nut through the bolts.

just out of curiosity, how is wheel spin now? After installing my VLSD in my S13/RB25 I can still spin the wheels going in to 3rd gear.

After I put the VLSD in, I was able to spin easily through 2nd. But what was scary was the wheel hop. When both wheels hop at the same time, the whole back of the car sounds like it is going to fall to pieces.

That is probably a combination of cheap tires, Eibach Pro's, and Apexi struts, though. Oh, and this is on RB20, not RB25.

I have all tanabe adjustable controll arms and tein flex coilovers and everything else is polly bushings now, so no more wheel hop.

Haven't really launched it hard as far as trying to spin the tires on purpose. I have been powering it around corners. I am able to spin it through the corners but do notice more pull or going through the corners faster than usuall. It is actually scary.
