I have a 2003 Infiniti FX45 and thinking of swapping in a VK56DE off a Nissan Titan or Infiniti QX56.

What do I have to worry about?

Are these blocks the same, just the VK56DE being bored larger?

I plan on using the Stillen Supercharger on the VK56DE, how do I upgrade my stock transmission to handle this new power?

Any help would be appreciated -- I couldn't find any exact projects using the search.

i'm a technician at the local nissan dealer, what is fx45's nissan equivilent? is it the pathfinder? if so they make the pathfinder with a 5.6 in it now. so if this is the case there would probably be alot of interchange! lmk if you need any specs or other dealer info!

fx = murano.the real trick would be the ecu.if you can slap the vk45's manifolds onto the vk56 then it might not be too bad with just a reflash to handle the increase in dispacement.

ah ha i should've known that. idk if that's gonna fit, isn't the chassis a front wheel platform? or the optional all wheel?

I found this:http://www.titantalk.com/forum...t.pdf

It's the front mid-ship platform shared by G35/350z/FX35. Mine is an AWD FX45.

I hear the Murano is a much different beast than the FX35/FX45.

Stillen looks like it has it's own engine management that comes with the blower for the VK56DE.

the murano is a lot closer to a maxima/altima than a FX, the FX is more like the G35/350Z as the above just stated...

sounds like a royal PITA, would be easier to turbo the VK45 IMO or do work to that, than to swap in a 56 for a lot more effort and for what, not really that much.

wonder if the vk56 rotating assembly will fit into a vk45...course a 1.1l increase in displacement is quite substantial.

My thought was the swap + the bolt-on Stillen blower. That would be a nice amount of torque.

wow that's nuts i would have thought the fx and murano would be closely related by just looking at them but you guys are totally right, the murano is a maxima style front engine front wheel set up with the engine mounted sideways. I would like to think it would fit if you could make a different manifold, good luck man this would be pretty sick if you could pull it off!!

Yes, you're right. You can more or less think of the FX (in all it's variants) as a G35 wagon. It's a little bigger but has quite a bit in common with the G.

Murano has a transverse motor and is related to the Altima. Entirely different beast. It's platform is called "FF-L."
