VERY long time in the money saving process. Budjet is large and i want a v8.

I wanna keep it nissan.

If i cant go vk56 my 2nd option is rb26.

My question is... Has a vk56 swap ever been done to a z32?
Are there any bolt on kits? (Engine mounts, adapter plates, etc)
Im concerned about fitment. Basicly will a vk56 clear the hood and ground? Will it clear the steering knuckle and subframe?

All info, links, contacts, and photos on a vk56 swap is very hepful!! Id like to see a completed swap if possible.

Now on the rb26. How much for a swap, excluding the price of the motor, into a z32. Just a price on parts to make it fit no labor no motor.

Thank guys

I know right off the top of my head a full engine is around 2900-3k, my friend had a 240 with a swap rb an he spent around 5-6k to get it reliably running and driving

I did some research on the VK56 swap a few years ago. Check the Australian 300zx forums, they do some crazy stuff to z's over there and have a lot of info. I can't remember if anyone had done it, but I do recall getting quite a bit of info, like maybe someone was attempting it too. I do know theres an adapter plate available that will mate the 350z 6spd transmission to the VK56DE.

Cost of VK swap minus motor and labor? About $100.

There are no off the shelf parts for this swap, so it all has to be custom made so you only need steel, aluminum and wire, and a lot of labor!

If I had a suggestion to make, it would be to consider the VH45. Much easier V8 swap, and cheaper. Not as much aftermarket support, but you can get forged internals, and make a custom turbo setup. That should get you any numbers you need.

I would also rather do a vk, but i'm going with a VH because it is a simpler swap and there is a lot more information and shared parts out there.

Rb will bolt to z32 trans using RB bell. I swapped my RB25DET for about $2500, thats including a $600 clutch and Freddy intake. Z32 ecu works, rb harness plugs in, just have to change Knock and O2 wires. (2 vs 1)

Considering it will be at least $3500 for an RB26 alone id consider your power goals and go from there. I have about $3500 into mine and expect I can push about 350hp.

This is where a lot of people with power goals get tripped up. Everyone wants the RB26, which is fine, it's an amazing engine and I'd LOVE to have one someday. But for the price of the swap, turbo, and tuning just to get it to run halfways decent, you'd be in it $4,000 or more. For that price you could have a complete VG30DETT or VH45DE swap with a turbo and be pushing 600 or 700hp. Maybe more! The RB26, once in the engine bay, would still only be making about the stock 300hp for the same price.

Obviously the RB is amazing and a Huge bonus for people who know what it is, but if you take it to the track, no one is going to care how rare your engine is, if you can't beat anyone with it. The RB is a massive powerplant and you can make upwards of 2000hp with the right setup!!! But you will have insane amounts of money and time into it to make it do as much as other Nissan engines because the parts are so costly.
