Thread Summary:
Tubular VK56 exhaust manifolds are available for a good price on EBAY and they share the exact same port spacing as the VH45.

Chev LS1 headers are available for very good prices online and share near exactly the same port spacing as the VH45.

Anyone know if these will fit our vh45's?

EDIT, Changed title to reflect info within.

I don't think they will. I think the spacing on the Vk exhaust outlets is different. Also I'm not sure if these would fit into anything besides the Q45. Not sure thought.

Well I've been thinking about this for a while now and I think it can be made to work. I took my VH manifold to the Nissan dealer to compare with a Titan manifold gasket and the ports are extremely close in shape and perfectly spaced, its just the mounting holes that dont line up. The pics are bad but the bolt holes in the VK manifold could be either slot milled or ground to line up with the VH pattern. I plan on buying some shorty JBA headers to see if they will fit in my 240Z install.

Thanks dude! exactly what I was wanting to hear :-D Any link to these shorty JBA headers? I've never heard of them.

So a LS1's bore spacing is 110mm. I just measured my manifold and from centre to centre of outside ports I get approx 340. So I can confirm what others have said, LS1 headers will fit with a flange change from what I can see.

I am very very interested to see this done! If this is possible that would be a HUGE step and another great option!

It should be noted that not only the is the port spacing the same for the VK, the port SHAPE is the same as well. I dont know how well the shape of the LS ports matches with the VH. This could cause more complications if the tube ends at the flange needed to be reshaped.

JBA Shorty headers can be found here and other places http://www.jegs.com/p/JBA/JBA-Nissan-Sh ... 2/10002/-1
They seem to get good reviews amongst the titan crowd.

I think Ill try your idea of cutting off the VH headers and welding on the LS1 headers on to them. Jeggs has a no hassle return policy so if a mock up doesn't look right your not out anything but the shipping. The angle of the ports relative to the crank is more acute on the VH so the cut on the pipes is definitely trial and error. Maybe expand the pipes on the new header to slip over the VH pipes and then tack in place before final fit in the car. I was looking at these-http://www.jegs.com/i/Hooker+Headers/520/2312/10002/-1

The big concern however, is whether or not these headers will fit once you stuff the VH into anything. It'd be easy enough to just swap the flanges, but will the VK shorties fit on the VH in an S13 or a Z32? That's what I'd like to know.

Also, I'm not really familiar with the VK or Titan. Does it have a slip on catalytic converter or what? I don't see flanges on the collectors.

Your absolutely right. These headers seem to be just about as low profile and close to the block as possible and if modifications need to be made, I would rather start with a quality product and make a couple small cut/welds than make an ugly mess trying to make my own from scratch. If you have the fab skills then by all means go to town.

As for the flange thing, I think the VK has integrated manifolds/cats like the VH so they probably assume cats will be welded on.

any more info/progress on this!!!???? please update on this i am HIGHLY interested!! PLEASE!!!

also being the port shape being the same couldn't we just cut off the flanges from the stock mani's and the headers and swap them out?? i really think this would be worth messing with, all we have to do is swap manifolds, and if some of us don't want to take the chances am sure machine/welding shops out there wouldn't charge much to have it done right, come on guys its a quality made and proven product, no welds cracking or anything like that to worry about....(except our welds lol, for the ones like me who aren't too experienced at welding...)

**EDIT: also, although the spacing is the same on the ls-x wouldn't the angle of the bends and all those other things affect the fitting??

alright after reading this my brain went coo-coo and i went outside and grabbed one of my old manifold gaskets and took some measurements(measuring tape, nothing precise or super accurate) and the ports are "approximately", 2 and 1/16" wide (<->) by 1-1/4" tall, or vertically, idk how to call it.... so i don't see why we couldn't take the ls-x headers cut the flanges off and "flatten" them to take the "oval" shape of the vh ports, by the time its done they should expand close enought (<->) that way to fit in... if anybody thinks that the "block huggers" from hookers would fit close enought to fit in an s13 am gonna give it a shot... please i could like to hear your opinions, after all they are made to fit in the frame of a street rod.

*EDIT: these are the "block huggers"

Regarding the huggers: Are 2.5" downpipes going to fit between the frame rails and the block? What if that flange falls between the frame rails and the block? That's even less room.

We'll just have to be patient and wait for someone to test fit some of this stuff. I'm not at that point yet, so I can't really do it. I'm hoping to start my swap project this winter, so maybe I'll try something out.

I don't have the skills or tools to make my own, so I'm either going to have to buy some pre-fabbed or have one of these other sets modified to bolt to the VH.

If someone wants to supply a set of LS headers I have a S13 half cut sitting with my VH in it I can play with but I'm not needing headers so I really don't want to spend the money on a set of LS ones to try.... not right now anyway.
