AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Need a little ASSistance trying to find some valve shims. Son’s car spun a bearing. Had a shop in Cali do a reman. Everything was great for the break in. At about 2500 miles we started have a lot of valve tick. Opened the covers and started measuring lashes. Yeah, s*** way off. Curiously though, not understanding why it was perfectly quiet for 2500ish miles and then started ticking. I’m not a Nissan guy by any means but I’ve worked on about everything under the sun. Am I going down the wrong road here? What else would cause the lash to just increase? I have all of the manuals and followed it to the T. When I measured #1 it was off by 10thou. Patiently waiting for anyone’s response. Thanks a million.

The lifters use adjustment shims that are supposed to be sized according to lash clearance when the head is reworked. Sounds like the guys who did the reman didn't get it right. There are 64 shim sizes in graduations of 0.01mm. See EM-225 here for the procedure (it ain't easy):

Thanks Vstar. I have the procedure. I have only accessed and measured the drivers side but I’m going to do both. I guess my real question should’ve been, does anyone know where I can purchase the sizes I need once everything is measured. I’ve surfed the webs and eBay but only seeing a few random sizes. I need a part number list that annotates the number to the actual thickness measurement so I can then search said part number. From what I’ve gathered, the part numbers are not sequential in dash numbers to the thickness. Very odd.

Hmm, well, I see your problem, most of those shims are discontinued. There are a few specific sizes still out there if one of them happens to fix your tap-tap. You could try Amayama, if there's any real stock in the world then they probably have it cornered. For aftermarket, JWT might have something, I think they made perf cam sets for the VK45. This page will give you the shim sizes along with the corresponding part numbers:

PS - I know this is an old problem with the VQ30's in the Max, and I've always kind of wondered whether you couldn't have a form fitted "under spacer" machined to fit in the hole. The top surface that bears on the cam probably needs to be special material, but the bottom is just a pushing surface. I can't see why that wouldn't work if it was carefully machined and heat treated appropriately so it wouldn't compress.
